Alice could not believe it! She was getting married today. She had never thought that she would get married at eighteen years old, but none of that mattered now. She was getting married to Joe, her newfound love of her life. At first, he had seemed so scary and stalkerish, but now she was glad he had kidnapped her on that fateful day at work. Speaking of work, every single one of her students had showed up for her wedding, along with their families. She was in a small dressing room, getting her dress on and her hair done. They had to hurry; the ceremony started in 20 minutes. There-finally, they were done. Her hair looked beautiful, intricately done in a southern french braided up-do. It was time! Alice's hands were quivering as she marched up the aisle to the flowery arch where her husband-to-be stood with a look on his face that was close to pride. It went against Alice's every instinct not to break into a full-blown sprint. Finally, FINALLY, she got there. She said her vows, and headed off to the reception. It was beautiful, Alice was sure, but she never really knew because all she was looking at was Joe. His eyes, his lips. Everything about him just seemed perfect.
The entire event seemed to pass by in a blur. Alice couldn't wait to go to Kansas, her hometown, for their honeymoon. But now, she had to focus on the reception, making friends, and having a good time with her new husband. Her arms got goosebumps on them at the thought of the word....husband. She BELONGED to someone, someone totally perfect in every way, who loved her almost as much as she cherished him. It was a wonderful feeling. She was no longer Alice Rohr. She was Alice Walker now, Joe walker's WIFE. She gushed and raised up on her tiptoes to give him yet another kiss.
