| Ed had the day shift today, which meant he got to spend 6 blissful hours driving ungrateful people around this lovely town (that was sarcasm, btw) Already he had 3 people that refused to pay the fare, but only pay a portion of it. Ed tried to reason with them, but they wouldn't listen. And right after THAT, he had these people that drove all the way across town! And they must have had beans for lunch, because the smell in there was TERRIBLE! Ed rolled down a window and looked for someone normal to pick up. | |

| 3 hours later...Ed was hanging downtown waiting for someone to signal him. He jumped at the chance when somebody finally did. It was a girl, 19 or 20. She was looking at him funny. He looked down at his shirt to make sure it wasn't offending her. He looked up and cleared his shirt. "Where to?" he asked in a harsh voice. "Um, I'm going to the library, please." "You sure?" Ed asked. "That's all the way across town, it could get expensive." "I can pay." she answered, but she seemed distracted. "Okay." Ed agreed and he drove off. The whole way to the library, that girl was staring at him. She kept trying to make small talk, but Ed's one syllable answers always left her with nothing to say. She seemed fustrated with him. He started feeling sorry for her about halfway there. "So, what's your name?" he asked. Not like he cared, but she just looked so sad! But right when he asked, her face brightened up. "My name is Abby. What's yours?" Ed blinked. "Ed. Just Ed." The girl..Abby looked bummed again, at his bland response, most likely. "Hi, Ed." she said gloomily, and went back into silence. The silence continued until he let her out at the library. "Thank you, Abby." Ed said before she ducked out of the taxi. She looked back and smiled. "Thanks, Ed." And then she left. Ed had no idea what just happened or what it meant. Most likely, he'd never see this girl again, and he could forget about it. He tried to remember about Audrey, but it was harder than it should have been. Of course, he wasn't OVERLY nice to Abby, so he couldn't like her...could he? At least he was mildley pleasant with Audrey. Before he could act on that thought, another person signaled him, and he was forced to take his mind off it. | |
